The Ohio Board of Pharmacy has introduced a new online tool designed to help individuals with disabilities – from those with vision and hearing loss to those with language barriers and other conditions – find pharmacies that meet their specific needs. This tool allows users to identify pharmacies that offer services such as large print labels, Braille prescriptions, video relay services for people with hearing problems, and translation assistance for different languages. This initiative aims to ensure that healthcare services, particularly in the pharmacy sector, are accessible and welcoming to a wider target group.
By simplifying the process of finding pharmacies that provide specialty services, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy’s tool helps bridge the gap in healthcare access. However, the organization points to an obstacle resulting from the continued closures of pharmacies, which are motivated by financial pressure.
